Will I be able to do the exercises?

This is a huge concern for all the members before they start because everybody is worried about being embarrassed or looking ridiculous. Don’t worry though as I get it and everybody has to start somewhere. My aim with shape up is to build your confidence not take it away and every exercises and part can be adjusted to suit your level.

It is structured in such a way to keep progressing you and making you better and fitter and more confident. It is designed to build your strength and ability regardless of where you are starting from. You don’t have to worry about doing loads of boring cardio or me killing you with ‘beast mode’ workouts.

The workouts do get tougher but are always adapted to where you are at, they are safe and fun and very effective. You won’t be made do anything you can’t and you won’t look silly if you can’t do something because I will just change the exercise to something you to suit you and it happens more often than you think, you wouldn’t be the first.

Do I need to lose weight first?

Absolutely not and I get it, quite often the girls feel very embarrassed that they let themselves get a certain way and feel like they need to lose weight before starting but that is my job to help you with that and I totally understand that it is intimidating and uncomfortable.

You are worried about not being fit enough, worried about being embarrassed, or being judged but you are going to be surrounded by a group of supportive likeminded women on the same journey as you.

Will it be intimidating?

I hope not, ha-ha. Getting started or doing something new always has an element of fear attached to it and every single member has worried about feeling intimidated. Worried about people looking or judging, worried about being able to keep up, worried about fitting in, worried about some asshole trainer screaming at you to try harder!!! On your first day, it’s like starting school all over again.

It is totally understandable but I believe we have an extremely welcoming and supportive community at shape up and I aim to make everyone’s

transition as smooth as possible when they start and all the other girls understand how you are feeling and will help you settle in.

What if I’m really unfit?

Don’t worry about it (yes, I know easy for me to say writing this) you won’t be made do anything you can’t and every member who starts worries the same thing and it is usually nowhere near as bad as they expected. The group is aimed at ladies who want to get fitter, healthier, stronger, slimmer, who want to regain their body confidence.

So, no matter how unfit you think you are right now and if you are worrying about being able to keep up. I can guarantee it is not as bad as you think it is and I will help get you flying in no time.

What if I am really self-conscious?

Getting started is tough, really tough especially when you already feel very self-conscious about how you look and your confidence is low and self-esteem is low too. There are a lot of worries and a lot of concerns.

Will I look ridiculous, will everyone be looking at me, will I be the fattest there.

So even though you really want to do something and get started. These feelings and questions can be the thing that hold you back.

Do I have to give up everything I love?

The simple answer to this question is no. the biggest problem with the all or nothing and super strict approach is that it never lasts. Do you know what another huge problem is with these approaches? It is the fact that it is these types of approaches that have you afraid to start in the first place. When you feel totally deprived it is a miserable experience.
