I’m gonna let you in on a little secret today.
I know why your diet didn’t work for you last time.
And there’s 3 main reasons for that.
Reason 1
-> you didn’t account for all the food you ate.
This is one of the hardest things for most of us to get, and it’s because we’re terrible at accounting for food and we do so many things on autopilot.
This usually leads to people feeling like they’re eating really well and not eating that much when really they’re eating lots more than they realise.
If you think about the start of a diet, it goes really well because you’re really focused, paying lots of attention, and trying really hard.
So you’ve cut out all the food.
Then you relax a little, lose focus, and the bad habits start creeping back in.
But we don’t notice it, and this causes frustration because everything stops working and we don’t know why.
The fix - you have to have a system that keeps you really focused ALL the time, like the one I use in shape up.
It could be as simple as a checklist or a food tracker.
Reason 2
-> being too restrictive and being in a dieters mentality.
Trying to cut out all the foods you love, viewing food as either good or bad, trying to go all or nothing, and trying to slash your food to low are all a recipe for FAILURE.
To be able to get results, keep it up long term, and turn it into a lifestyle, you need an approach that allows you to make it work for you, your tastes, and your life.
You need a simple to follow system, a new mindset towards food, and to have a better understanding of portions and balance.
You also need to have a way to include your favourite treats and drinks.
I cover all of this in the 5 step start up system in shape up and with the weekly videos I do in the private members support group.
But here’s some things you could try.
Plan your treats, meals out, and nights out. Planning in advance makes it more likely you’ll stick to it.
Reduce the frequency of your ‘bad’ foods rather than giving up completely. It’s easier to have less and be a little bit better than to go cold turkey.
Remember you’re trying to make it something you can keep up forever.
Reason 3
-> No support or accountability
This could actually be the most important one, because the reality for most people is that they More a less know what to do.
And you DEFINITELY do now because I just told you, and I email you most days with tips and advice.
But guess what....
Nothing happens does it?
Why?
Simple, you’ve no accountability. You’ve nobody there to make sure it happens.
And the system I have I shape up is in my opinion the BEST accountability system I’ve ever seen, and the results I Get speak for themselves.
You could try getting someone else involved or telling everyone what you’re goi h to do to increase yours.
OR try the guaranteed way to get results and join shape up.
The other part of this reason is the support.
Being surrounded by a group of like minded people is really motivating and you never feel like you’re on your own.
Having the support of someone that you know cares and knows how to get you where you want is very reassuring and removes the stress, doubt, and guesswork.
And of course the best part of support is that you will have somebody there to help you when you’re struggling, and get you through the part where you usually give up.
