I REVEAL 4 easy to follow tips to bulletproof your willpower and stop you sabotaging your waistline EVERY weekend!!

  1. Don’t bullshit yourself – we humans are fantastic at overestimating how much better we will do in future. ‘I will do better next time’ ‘this is the last time’ and nowhere is that more prevalent than the weekends. the word weekend automatically makes everyone think relax, unwind, switch off, indulge, let loose, do whatever the fuck we want because it’s the weekend and it is very easy to get caught out and forget your long term goal and give into the temptation of instant gratification. We always say we will do better next time because at the time that story sounds good and we are happy to “believe” it, Unfortunately we just end up repeating it over and over again. You need to be brutally honest with yourself and check out the points below to help with that.
  2. Have a plan – So simple and so basic but so often neglected. It is very easy to get caught out and then excuse it away when there is no plan and this doesn’t have to be some regimented set in stone type of plan. If you literally just take a few minutes to think about what you are doing this weekend? where are you going to be? who are you going to be with? what  kind of influence do they have over you? are they supportive? or do they constantly put temptation in your way? do they even know how important this is to you? are you allowing yourself to be easily influenced and then use it as a convenient excuse to make yourself feel better and avoid taking responsibility for your actions. where will you be eating? simple things like this all need to be considered, then  you can form a mental picture of what your weekend is going to be like and establish potential pitfalls and then prepare for them in advance.
  3. Keep focused on why – you need to have the reasons you are doing this at the top of your mind and I mean the really deep reasons about why getting in shape and getting healthier is important. Yes everyone wants to lose weight, but why is that important. I work very hard with all my ladies who lunge to establish these reasons and all it takes is taking a tiny bit of time to think a little bit more deeply about why it is important to you and if that seems like too much effort? then I suggest you just go do whatever you want at the weekend and stop moaning about how unhappy you are. If on the other hand it is important to you?  Keeping those reasons at the top of your mind should always help make any temptation seem like the actual threat it is to your goals.
  4.  Re-frame how you look at temptation – It is very easy to look at temptation and think of the immediate pleasure and forget about the consequences but by re-framing how we look at it, it can shift the balance of power back to the long term goal. So instead of asking…. Do I want this now? ask… Do I want the consequences of doing this everyday for the next year?

Ultimately it all boils down to you, these tips and any advice for that matter is rendered useless if you don’t do anything with it. If you are fed up with constantly letting the weekends always hold you back and sick of feeling like you are getting nowhere?
