Hey
At the bottom of the page you will find a link to a really inspirational video about a young boy with cerebral palsy, I really think you should have a watch
I really enjoyed watching this video this morning and it did make me a little bit emotional. I love seeing things like this as it is always a reminder that our attitude is always our choice.
He is in a perfect position to sit around feeling sorry for himself or saying it’s not fair or I’ll never be able to do it but look at him, look at how happy he is and the attitude he chooses to have.
It is very easy to end up with the wrong mindset when we are always thinking about how hard it is going to be, how much effort it will take, how long it will take, what we might have to give up, it’s not fair why can’t it be easier and thinking like this is actually holding us back and preventing us from doing our best, we can get so worked up and intimidated by thinking like this, that if we had just gotten to work we would be way further down the line already. What makes it worse is that we choose this attitude rather than trying to find the frames of reference to feed us positive motivation, we choose to see the negative.
It can be difficult and sometimes it does seem so far away but thinking like that is not going to help, the move a mountain you have to start by carrying away small stones, we need to live in the present moment and celebrate all our success am I sleeping better, do I have more energy, am I stronger, did I do something I thought I couldn’t, am I trying harder, am I more confident, am I more consistent, am I eating better, do I feel better, I could go on and on but there is always something we can focus on that makes reaching our goals easier. We always have a choice to choose how we look at a situation.
Focus on what is in front of you right now. Ignore what it represents or it means or why it happened to you. Focus on today, look back at progress that has been made. Ask yourself what can I do today that is going to move me closer to my goal, then go and do it. One thing at a time, one day at a time
It always seems impossible until it’s done. Nelson Mandela
how often we say things are difficult or we cant do it but look at him, his situation is far more difficult but he tries, all we can ever do is try our best and what is even better is he does it with a smile on his face. I feel there is a very important lesson to be learned from this young boy
