So, i was in this coffee shop called Bear on sunday and where you have to Q up
they have this massive open display of pastries, cakes and sweet treats
Seriously, it is pretty tempting!!!
And there was two girls ahead of me
And they ordered two skinny cappuccinos but picked up about 3 or 4 treats each
danish pastries, croissants, and a couple of mini doughnuts (they looked good)
And it got me thinking about the convenient little stories we like to tell ourselves about the choices we make to make ourselves feel better about and justify our actions
So because they were having “skinny” cappuccinos the cakes were ok….
Or at least that is the story they were telling themselves
And look, i’m no angel
I once ate a whole bag of spinach and two apples after a Mcdonalds
To cancel it out, you know!!
But in my defence it is not as bad as the people who order a diet coke with a large big mac meal (please tell me you have not done that)
But it is because you prefer the taste, right?
And it has happened many times before that i have had a bad day or a bad weekend and then spent the next couple of days eating ‘super healthy’ to make up for it
So what type of stories have you told yourself?
Basically we want to tell ourselves anything that will justify it
But wouldn’t you like to be free from that?
Wouldn’t you like to feel more confident about food and the choices you make?
Wouldn’t it be cool to be aware, so it doesn’t feel like your whole life revolves around food?
