Struggle with snacking in the evenings?

Hey

Do you struggle with snacking in the evenings?

Well if you’ve opened this the answer is obvious

Snacking in the evenings can be triggered by a lot of things and is usually habitual

But that’s not what I’m going into here today

Today I have something for you to try out

You see an ‘innocent’ snack in the evening that began as ‘I’ll just have one’

And finished up with you staring at crumbs in an empty bag

Is probably an all too Common experience

You see your stomach can’t count

It is really bad at math

And our attention and memory don’t help either

Especially when we are in autopilot mode digging in to our favourite treat while binge watching Netflix

So it’s not always that we are trying to fool ourselves or lie to ourselves about it

We just do t think

We are not designed to be good at accounting for food

We are designed to be good at eating it

And it does not help that the types of foods we like to snack on are high fat, Hugh sugar and sodium

That a are designed to make the pleasure seeking part of our brains want more and more

And we will just keep eating and eating until it is gone

Without thinking

And only usually realising how much we had when there’s nothing left

So the standard ‘fit pro’ advice is

Don’t have it in the house

Bla bla bla

Now that can be good advice

But there are better ways

You see just removing it

Will make you resent not having it

And miss it

And then want it even more

What works better??

Is creating awareness and then you can see for yourself how much you are really having

And either

Cut back

Or

Make up your own mind to get rid of it or replace it

So what I want you to do when you are next having a snack in the evening is…

Use the notes on your phone

And every time you have something

Be it a crisp or square of chocolate

But an emoji in your notes

That’s after every single one

Doing this….

Will slow you down

And will also make you very conscious and aware about how much you are having

To be honest

It will most likely INSTANTLY make you reduce how much your are actually having

So the next time you are about to get stuck into that tub of Pringles or pack of peanut m and m’s

Make a note of every single one
